FB groups are the best, imho. (You can search for chiang mai rental on FB)
Yeah I ordered a Revolut card before when in Thailand, got it delivered and worked perfectly
Hey! Anyone got a good Thai Tax person? Iโ€™m looking to clarify my position before committing to a long term lease
fiiv 2mo
There's a "Bangkok Mamas" group on facebook. Lots of nannies advertise their services in there as well as people post things like your message and nannies will answer. I think you should have some luck.

For people who had success stories with their DTV, what was your best online source of information? Can be website, vlog, YouTube, Reddit, anything. Thanks!
Guys, quick question, which hospitals you go to in Bangkok, and how you deal with the sky-high prices. For example, today I was at Sukhumvit Hospital, needed a routine ultrasound, they quoted 8,000 baht โ€” I refused and called another hospital, which quoted 2,500 baht for the same procedure. Whatโ€™s everyoneโ€™s experience, and how do you handle situations like this?
dviolite 1mo
Are there any other coliving places that you would recommend?
These look great but are kinda expensive.
dviolite 1mo
Coliving space in Chiang Mai that is.
beelaitch 1mo
hey friends i have a question. iโ€™ve got the digital nomad visa in spain and am applying for the 5 year DTV for thailand end of the year. has anyone else done the same ? any blockers you experienced from the spanish side ?
dviolite 1mo
does anyone have experience living in a coliving space in chiang mai?

Can anyone recommend a good stablecoin payment solution to pay in Thailand with QR codes? Thanks!
xyx123 1mo
dont think there is. regulatory doesnt allow it
maristia 1mo
I'm surprised because there is an option in almost all countries I know so far. Even neighboring countries to Thailand
xyx123 1mo
the local exchanges are working on a product called tourist digipay (you can google it) with the local authorities but it has been a work in progress for the last 1 year plus
maristia 1mo
Incredible that most other countries have found many solutions long ago. Even Bangladesh, Pakistan, etc.
Hi all! Moving to Bangkok in the new years, what's ppl opinions on Thong Lor region?
Rough monthly salary needed to live comfortably there ?
best place to find condos ? what websites - and how far ahead do u need to look? to rent
peerjue 1mo
how long is a piece of string? There are condos you can live cheaply and others you would spend other ppls yearly rental budget in a month.

I am visiting Chiang Mai soon, does anyone have recommendations about padel groups or tennis classes? ๐Ÿ‘€

I lived there for over a year. Itโ€™s nice. Ask me if you have something specific

How good is bangkok meeting people building cool tech stuff? in AI space etc. Mg main concern is if i move for this remote job I'll miss out on being in the loop for tech advances in the know for what's happening in AI world etc.
I have an offer a a product manager remote but want to be more in AI loop, where my current job is more AI focused - so bit scared to take the offer
fiiv 1mo
In That area you have a couple coworking spaces - The Hive and 3 stops on BTS away is Atlas at Asok. The Hive has events so you can try n get to know other people.Iโ€™m sure some of them follow latest hype trains like AI or whatever else.

The city has a couple communities of tech people for example there is one indie hacker group that meets every Thursday at a coffee place to cowork and socialise and talk about this type of stuff.
datazen 1mo
I may goto Phuket in September or October
Which indie hacker group are you talking about? Hackumvit?

๐Ÿ‘‹ hi all. I just moved to bkk. into retro gaming
alexkocch 1mo
FazWaz or Ddproperty, you can easily find a real estate agent there who helps you check out and find apartments. Especially BKK can be an expensive city. You can find something comparatively cheap but you can also easily spend $5,000-$8,000+/month for condos. Same goes for food. Thonglor is a nice area and probably the best area to start with. Wouldn't personally recommend going with smth. like Ari or On Nut only because its cheaper as its mostly because of distance to a lot of nice places I would try to be close by when im new in the city (Benjakitti and Lumphini Park, Emsphere/EmsQuartier, ...)
mrakrog 1mo
for me, facebook marketplace. You can find facebook groups too with a best offerts than webs.

Ouch. ๐Ÿ˜ฃ โ€œThailand has confirmed that visa-free stays for travelers from more than 60 countries and territories, including EU countries, will fall from 60 to 30 days beginning September 15, 2026.โ€
Which are your favorite islands to visit aside from the famous spots (Koh Pangan/Samui)?

what's a good site to use for finding a 1-month stay at a condo in bangkok/chiang mai? airbnb options seem pretty expensive because of the service fees. any tips for finding a place would be appreciated
jeniapus 28d
for a month thats pretty much the only option you have
alexkocch 28d
facebook, airbnb or through friends. BKK is getting pretty tough minimum is six months and for the really good towers usually not less than a year. I have an apartment which might can be given away for shorter period, you can hit me up might makes sense for your case
tristant 28d
Yeah I figured.. did it in Chiang Mai last year. Guess thatโ€™s the extra you pay for shorter term
How is journey from udon thani to laos
quaid 27d
Generally fine. Buses go from UT bus terminal every couple of hours from early morning to mid-afternoon. Takes around 2 hours. If itโ€™s busy at the border and your visa process takes a while the bus will leave without you so you will have to take a taxi into Vientiane. You wonโ€™t be the only one so you can arrange to share a taxi with other passengers.
You can also take a train. Itโ€™s slower (I think ~3 hours) and has fewer departure options; IIRC thereโ€™s one early morning and one late afternoon. You can check baolao or 12go to confirm times. Less chaotic border process. You take a bus or taxi from the arrival station into Vientiane itself. Or take a taxi to the other station if youโ€™re heading straight on to VV or LP
dccb 26d
In my experience, Bangkok Christian Hospital and St Louis are amongst the cheapest. However, all of them have either LINE, WhatsApp, or a Facebook account. It will be listed on their website. Draft a nice letter with all the procedure details and send it to all of them.
I found a monthโ€™s stay, via fb group for CM rentals
Many people post there actively
So airbnb is not the only option
Doesn't get much cheaper than this, a month with office for 600โ‚ฌ on their cheapest
Hi everyone, My name is Amin Eftegarie. I grew up in the Netherlands but have now lived in Bangkok, Thailand for many years :)
Wise is rolling out Thai QR payments, but itโ€™s not rolled out to me yet. I think itโ€™s only for people who changed their Wise residential address to Thailand (mine is still set to the Netherlands). Has anyone changed it succesfully? Has anyo here been able to do QR payments using Wise? Thanks
limextapa 22d
Iโ€™d love that so I can finally stop carrying around coins and stop going to the ATM every week to take out cash.
Pro tip: If you're on a DTV you can actually get fully verified on True Money, which will allow you to pay by scanning PromptPay QR codes

Hi all sending this to the ether ๐Ÿ€ - looking for the kind gentleman who tried to help me with Google translate at the gate - they'll understand when they see this - would love to say thank you ๐Ÿœ๐Ÿป
srnm01 15d
The full changeover for wise accounts with Thai addresses should be finished in October. The bot will not let me post a link.

Afaik Thai accounts will no longer be usable to transfer money without remitting into Thailand. That means tax payable if you spend more than 6 months in the kingdom. So promptpay will be a gain, but at the cost of wise becoming similar to a Thai bank.

Hey everyone! ๐Ÿ‘‹ Any nomad meetups happening in Budapest this week? Or any cafรฉs/bars where digital nomads usually hang out and meet each other?
Any Nomads lived in Thailand with infants? Looking to know more about your experiences while being a nomad with kids.
fiiv 14d
What exactly do you want to know? Itโ€™s a pretty child friendly country overall.
Since we are used to Central Europe, weโ€™d like to spend a month there with a 6- month old.

What child friendly mean? As far I can see online, strollers are difficult to use and carrying babies in the heat might be a problem. We are also concerned about access to medical facilities as needed.
fiiv 14d
Medical care isnโ€™t too much of an issue. Lots of hospitals with paediatric professionals. Everything from advice to urgent care is very easy to access.

Carrying my son around in one of those child backpacks or stroller was never an issue for us. You end up having to go over a bump between sidewalks sometimes but people complain a mountain out of a molehill online about stuff like this a bit too much in my opinion.

By child friendly I mean itโ€™s easy to live here with a child. People are generally nice to them and even engage especially with younger kids.
sidequest 14d
The tax thing isnt really an issue in reality.
shade991 14d
How so
sidequest 14d
Because it's not enforced, and it can't really ever be.
shade991 14d
nice
is everyone ok?
On Sukhumvit it already seems to be okay but other districts are still flooded
nj1001 9d
I was planning on flying this weekend. The bangkok flood is heartbreaking.

What's the condition of Chiang mai, Can I visit it this wekend?

Is it possible to catch taxi to airport from around sukhumvit 48? :)) or do i have to order boat? :))) have to go to bkk to catch my plane
sukhumvit 48 to BKK is fine, i drove there yesterday
Is there something like this in Bangkok?
Just looked on reddit real quick and it looks like my answer is to stay in a short term rental in a condo building
Helloooo! Anyone in Chiang Mai and wants meet up during the week? Maybe work together? I just bought a week at Yellow Coworking if anyone else is here! ๐Ÿ™Œ I'm 24 and building some stuff and marketing with tiktok slideshows!
Hello
Guys, how much should I make and how much should I have saved to go live there as a nomad?
nj1001 7d
This is a very open ended question as It's highly dependent of Individual but a thumb rule I'd like to say is $10K in emergency savings and $1.5-$2K/mo in income to actually live here and enjoy
markbor 7d
To chiang mai? Yeah low budget 1000 usd monthly - i dont think I spend that last month (probably spend around 600) - with bike private room food etc so 1500 usd would be ok with some emergency funds - but depends what you like. I just want to ride motorbike eat good food and work and have private bathroom and room in reasonable standard close to old town - no need for condo :) if you want condo - depends - if you rent long term (then with all extra expenses it will be 10k max thb of course for apartment with swimming pool and gym) will be cheaper. And if you like local food then well - you need anything between 30k and 40k for good standard living (all things included) - based on experience of 3 years traveling around thailand. Of course if you travel - thats extra cost :)
30k saved?
Thanks for the response, ny the way
I don't mind luxury, but I'm afraid I would run out of money
rikgone 6d
i think he means 30k THB/mo
A month? That's impossible
fiiv 6d
The average Thai worker salary in hospitality is about 20-30k baht. So not impossible. Of course you have to be frugal. I donโ€™t know what you like to do but that would be close to the floor of cost of living.
Hi
I am in chiang mai and its my wifes birthday today
I want to make this day special for her. Some recommendations that only someone who lives here can give
https://maps.app.goo.gl/HQCwLK2XZGxEvJqj7?g_st=ic

I really liked this place can recommend!!
If itโ€™s open today idk
Thereโ€™s a very chill beautiful cafe called โ€œa Place on Earthโ€, maybe you can inquire for a celebration but itโ€™s a bit far. I used to frequent the place and I miss there so so so much. Thereโ€™s a lake nearby in Maejo where you can take her for a walk afterwards. Thereโ€™s also this place that was like straight out of heaven: https://maps.app.goo.gl/toDXRt3efqaPHnSG7?g_st=ic
Hey everyone! I'll be in bangkok soon, anyone wants to hang out?
Sure, I live in Bangkok for many years. Iโ€™ll meet you
hey guys, do you organize meetups/activities in chiang mai?
Hello people, i will go to chiang mai soon, do you do some sports like table tennis (ping pong) ?
In koh samui someone go to play beach voley?
good question :)

What's the best vegan pad thai place in and around bangkok?
Are people still doing monthly border runs? Are the authorities cracking down on anything, or could I do it a couple of times over three months?
gk 4d
There was one recently from Lanta to the south border, yes.
gk 4d
Are there 90-day reporting agents in Bangkok?
A friend doesnโ€™t want to go wait at immigration.
Surely thereโ€™s the same thing there as there is elsewhere, where you can bribe an officer to just take your passport and process it for you?
Assuming that it still takes many hours each time if you queue up, which is what they said.
fiiv 3d
I went on Friday. Was there at 8:30. I was finished by 9:30.

You can also do the reporting online
gk 3d
There's been some inconsistency around that.
It used to be that it was after first ever report you could report online.
Then I started to get rejections citing that the first report after entry each time needed to be in person.
The immigration site also said exactly that (in thai, but not in english).
But now there's no trace of that again, and it just says you can report online ๐ŸŽ‰
I guess I'll see what happens in a month when I have to report again.
Though I might need to leave and re-enter to switch to non-b entry visa.
fiiv 3d
I also would agree itโ€™s inconsistent. I have had it approved and not approved based on the same data inputs 90 days apart so who knows lol
gk 3d
I'd just keep re-applying until they called me and then say it's not my first entry, and they'd normally just approve it.
But then my wife and I would get different results, too.
hello anyone have experience applying for thailand DTV visa from dubai or abu dhabi thai embassy?
