Anyone have opinions on what it's like in HK over the new years? I'm thinking about staying for 2 weeks over the new years before going over to Sapporo in Jan. Is it worth it for such a short visit? I'll be on "holiday" for the first week but have to work the second week.

Startup scene is definitely there, but when it comes to outsourcing it’s mostly China or Vietnam, for most it’s race to the bottom in terms of pricing

Its a race to the bottom in every industry. The value of knowledge is going to zero because of AI. We are in end stage capitalism imho. We had weekly meetups in 2014 in Southampton discussing AI and tech and the future would be vastly different.

Ya totally agree, HK still has opportunities I think, there are startups that do want to get quality and then there are big corps that just don’t know better and pay a lot (but have to get warm intros here)

I think for HK (I guess the same can be said everywhere) building ur network in very specific domain is huge, once people know opportunities are everywhere, small circle

Yh I heard that too, same in the uk. The bullshit job economy lol. I don't think AI is moving as fast as the mag7 like you to believe though. Maybe the real breakthrough will be quantum. I believe it will be business as usual for the foreseeable
